This website is the latest incarnation of Onyx, my internet website dedicated to Shadowrun role playing game.
In its first incarnation, I called my site Shade. Between april and october 2000, I made an update every tuesday from the internet connection of my hometown elementary school, with a file and a location each month. I no longer had that internet access during summer, and finally, there only was two last updates in september an october. So Shade featured intelligence services, Hong Kong, Three magnates, a bizarre activist group, Egypt, Australia and New Zealand, modern warfare, Singapore, the "Network Maintenance Agency" and Sidney. Doing some research to write on Stockholm in Shadowrun, I discovered the EuroSB project and joined them, leading me to contribute to the Shadows of Europe sourcebook. From then on, I no longer had the time (or took it) to work on Shade.
As time passed, new Shadowrun sourcebooks were contradicting my personal work. In january 2002, Onyx replaced Shade. I started to rewrite each file to make them compatible with the latest releases. In december 2002, I also started translating some content in English. Other things started requiring some attention, web hosting closed or changed. I made the last update to Onyx first version in april 2004 (until 2008). Each time, things went pretty much the same way: I still was busy with Shadowrun and sometimes remembered I had a website, there even were people who stumble on it.
And so, in 2008, eight years after it started, I was here again to update everything. Shadowrun current edition is the Fourth. The very first location I wrote about, Hong Kong, had an entire chapter in Runner Havens written by other people (at least no surprise, they also put a corporate council in charge). Shade/Onyx maybe let some small traces in Shadowrun universe, with the mention of André Fergern in Shadows of Europe or a "spaceport" in Southeast Asia in Shadows of Asia (ot exactly where I put it first, but still...).
Shade and Onyx only featured "in-game" material, as they would be written by some characters, save a few side notes. For this new version, I made a directory to publish my notes and comments on the website content (including this page you're currently reading), my other works and Shadowrun at large. I also made a new layout, a quite simple one for this incarnation.
We'll see what will come up.
